Mum's Memories - Nan and Grandpa Hatton's Wedding

1930 - 1935

Before my parents were married, my mother worked part-time at the greyhound stadium and she used to bring home dogs that got trackwise. My dad lived at Longsight, near Manchester, and he said you could time your watch by the train coming up the track. Little did he realise that the train driver was the father of the lady he would eventually marry. My parents were married on Boxing Day 1935, in the snow, at Birch Church in Rusholme where dad’s grandfather was the verger. His brother Wallace was the best man. Probably because of the weather, the photographer didn’t turn up so later dad had to take the wedding photographs himself.
